“Descent, Part II” is a total mess of an episode which destroys both the character of Data and the Borg, while “Liaisons” manages to be both lazy and ungenerous. If there’s a worse pairing of episodes in the entire Star Trek franchise, we’ll find out, but we really, really don’t want to. Plus! Would a spinoff featuring Lore and Thomas Riker be better than Star Trek: Voyager?

-"Descent" is a glimpse into the future of TNG as a movie series: that is to say, the total betrayal of the characters, the continuity, and the very definition of Star Trek itself. If it wasn’t clear before, it’s obvious that Gene Roddenberry wasn’t even aware of what was being produced, much less consulting on it.
Not sure if this is the place to mention it, but Jeri Taylor took over showrunning duties with the seventh season of TNG. She would go on to exec produce Voyager for its first four seasons and was showrunner for seasons three and four. Make of that information what you will.
